Frequently asked questions
What is UnAlgorithm Feed?
UnAlgorithm Feed is a free, open-source browser extension by HeitechSoft that hides ads, suggested posts, network activity and other algorithmic noise in your LinkedIn and Facebook feeds, so you see the posts from people you actually follow. Each hidden post leaves a thin line you can open again.
Is UnAlgorithm Feed free?
Yes. The extension is free and open source. The rules, Chrome’s on-device AI, your own API key and local or self-hosted models will always be free. A future optional service, UnAlgorithm Cloud, will offer hosted AI and sync, paid with prepaid credits rather than a subscription.
How do I hide ads and suggested posts on LinkedIn?
Install UnAlgorithm Feed in Chrome and open your LinkedIn feed. With the recommended strength, Balanced, ads, suggested posts, “liked this” activity, People You May Know panels and posts from people you don’t follow fold into thin lines right away. There is nothing to set up. More about LinkedIn.
Does it work on Facebook?
Yes, in preview. On Facebook, UnAlgorithm folds away Sponsored posts, feed panels, suggested posts, friend activity and posts from groups you’re not in. Hiding people and pages you don’t follow is limited to the Calm strength until it has been checked on live feeds. More about Facebook.
Does UnAlgorithm Feed collect my data?
No. The rules run in your browser and make no network requests, and HeitechSoft never receives your feed, your settings or your browsing. If you turn on AI, only what’s needed to classify a post goes to the AI you chose: its text, with email addresses, phone numbers and mentions masked, and a few facts about it. Never author names, profile links, comments or images. Read the privacy policy.
Do I need an account?
No. UnAlgorithm Feed works without an account, sign-in or email address.
Which browsers does it work in?
Chrome, or another Chromium-based browser, version 130 or newer, on a computer. Edge, Firefox and Safari builds, and mobile through Safari on iOS and Firefox on Android, are on the roadmap.
Does it work if LinkedIn or Facebook is in another language?
Not yet. For now, LinkedIn and Facebook must be set to English. French for Canada is next.
Will I miss posts from people I follow?
UnAlgorithm is built to leave the people you follow alone. Nothing is hidden silently: every hidden post leaves a thin line you can open, and Why? offers one-click fixes such as “Always show this person”. If a site changes its layout and detection looks wrong, UnAlgorithm stops hiding and tells you, rather than hiding posts by mistake.
How is it different from an ad blocker?
An ad blocker removes ads. UnAlgorithm Feed curates the whole feed: besides ads it folds away suggested posts, “liked this” activity, feed panels and posts from accounts you don’t follow, and with AI turned on, engagement bait, rage bait and clickbait. It explains every post it hides, and it doesn’t block network requests or touch other sites.
How do I install it before it is on the Chrome Web Store?
Download the zip from the latest release on GitHub
and unzip it. Open chrome://extensions, turn on Developer mode, choose Load unpacked and select the
unzipped folder. A one-minute setup opens in a new tab. See Install.
Is UnAlgorithm Feed open source?
Yes. The code is free software under the GNU Affero General Public License, version 3 only, on GitHub. The names and logo are trademarks of HeitechSoft, so forks must use their own; see the trademark policy.
Who makes UnAlgorithm Feed?
HeitechSoft, a software company in Ontario, Canada.
